Yesterday, we had another great day out campaigning for the Unite EC election. In Ayrshire we visited Prestwick Aerosystems, GE, Mahle and Stagecoach. Passing back through Glasgow we revisited Diagio and First buses in Scotstoun.
A common theme from reps this week is the growing cost of living crisis that’s being felt by Unite members across Scotland.
Reps are already preparing for more challenging pay talks as more employers try to plead poverty with increased costs due to the war in the Middle East.
There’s already evidence of price gouging as oil corporations and others look to profit again from the increasing misery and the reps we spoke with are preparing for an increasingly confrontational set of pay talks.
That’s another reason why we need to support fighting reps for our EC who are committed to building workplace power across Scotland.
